Ford Escape Trim Levels
The Escape comes in four different trim levels, each of which offers a slightly different flavor of the Escape. Your trim options for this crossover are:
- S
- SE
- SEL
- Titanium
We start with the S trim, which delivers all the standard features you love, like the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of driver-assistive technologies. From there, you can add on more features as you move up in trim levels. When you get to the Titanium trim, your Escape will have all the bells and whistles, including a standard hybrid powertrain and a standard hands-free, foot-activated liftgate.
Ford Escape MPG
The Ford Escape hybrid option includes a 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 hybrid powertrain that delivers a combined system 200 horsepower. This pairs with an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT) to deliver the following EPA-estimated MPG specs when equipped with available all-wheel drive (AWD):
- 43 city MPG
- 37 highway MPG
- 40 combined MPG
There are two gas-powered engines too. The standard 1.5L EcoBoost® engine gets an EPA-estimated 26 city/31 highway MPG when equipped with AWD. The available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine gets 23 city/31 highway MPG, according to EPA estimates.
Ford Escape Towing Capacity
The Ford Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package. However, its towing capacity, when properly equipped, varies based on its engine, as you can see below:
- 2.5L hybrid engine: 1,500 pounds
- 1.5L EcoBoost® engine: 2,000 pounds
- 2.0L EcoBoost® engine: 3,500 pounds
To reach the maximum towing capacity, you’ll want the 2.0L engine, which generates 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque and comes standard with AWD.
Ford Escape Technology
We already mentioned that the Ford Escape comes standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of driver-assistive technologies, but what, exactly, is included in that? Take a look at just some of the included safety systems below:
- BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System)
- Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane-Keeping System
- Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Other features are also available, beginning with the SE trim. These are features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, which can help to actively adjust your cruise control speed and center you in your lane during highway driving.
Ford Escape Interior
The Escape may be a compact SUV, but you don’t feel that when you step inside the cabin. In fact, the interior of this Ford includes plenty of room for five passengers, as well as the following cargo volume specs:
- Cargo volume behind first row: 65.4 cubic feet
- Cargo volume behind second row: 37.5 cubic feet
With 37.5 cubic feet of trunk space with the rear seats upright, you have tons of room for suitcases, children’s bikes, or even a medium-sized dog crate for your 4-legged family members! With the second row folded down, you open up 65.4 cubic feet of total cargo volume.
