2021 Ford Edge vs. 2021 Honda CR-V
Starting Prices
The base price of the Honda CR-V is $25,350. The Edge starts at $32,750, providing more value with the price tag.
Powertrain
The Edge offers more horsepower and higher torque, outperforming the CR-V. Its standard 4-cylinder 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine gets more done than the CR-V's 1.5-liter, which can only pump out 190 horsepower. The Edge puts out 250 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, while the available V6 option can put out even more (335 HP and 380 lb.-ft. of torque).
The Edge's front-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission is also more fun to drive than the CR-V's. The Edge has a smoother ride and also packs more punch if you ever need to haul a trailer or pack a lot of cargo.
2021 Ford Edge Inventory Ford Edge Review
Interior
Both vehicles have two rows of seating and a rear cargo section, but the Edge's is larger. The Edge also offers more legroom and headspace than the CR-V, as well as more comfortable leather-trimmed seating.
Technology
The technology offerings on both vehicles are impressive, but the Edge's infotainment system and available 12.1" display screen firmly puts most experts in the Ford camp on this one. Ford's driver assistance technology also impressed. It includes a blind-spot awareness system, lane-keeping assistance, and more.
Features
Ford's Co-Pilot 360, Peace of Mind technology, and general design features really help the Edge edge out the CR-V in this category. It's easy to love the rotary gear shift dial on the Edge, as well as its sporty exterior and interior's striking design accents.
Drivability
Most experts think the Edge gives drivers a little more room to play with in terms of power and capability. Drivers are likely to feel much more comfortable off-road in the Edge than the CR-V, which is smooth on perfect pavement but a little clumsier on dirt roads and other non-traditional road surfaces.
Cabin Space
While differences are slight, the Edge has a little bit more room for both drivers and passengers.
- Front Legroom: 42.6 inches for the Edge, 41.3 for the CR-V.
- Front Headspace: 40.2 inches for the Edge, 40.1 for the CR-V.
- Back Legroom: 40.6 inches for the Edge, 40.4 inches for the CR-V.
- Back Headspace: 40.3 inches for the Edge, 39.2 inches for the CR-V.
