2023 Ford Bronco Sport
Since making its debut in 2021, the Ford Bronco Sport resembles its big brother, the Bronco, except this smaller crossover only has a four-door body style and squared-off design. Standard all-wheel drive, numerous drive modes, and optimized traction settings help you navigate through just about any type of terrain. In fact, the automaker calls its drive modes G.O.A.T., which stands for Goes Over Any Type of Terrain.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
For the 2023 model year, Ford added the Heritage Edition trim to the Bronco Sports lineup, bringing the total number to six. The trims listed in order are the Base, Big Bend, Heritage Edition, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Heritage Limited. The word "BRONCO" splays across the grille. Its liftgate has a window that opens separately, so you can easily place something inside without needing to open the entire door. It also has a safari-style roof that can handle up to 150 pounds of dynamic load.
Engine (Power)
The 2023 Bronco Sport comes with two engine options. The base turbocharged three-cylinder engine produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. This engine can tow up to 2,000 pounds. Higher trims include a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that gets 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. This engine option can tow up to 2,200 pounds. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard across the lineup.
Performance
When it comes to fuel economy, the 2023 Bronco Sport gets average numbers when compared to other vehicles in its class. With the base engine, expect to get an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The four-cylinder engine gets 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
The vehicle also has up to seven drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sand, Slippery, Sport, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl. These modes help you navigate through all types of terrain. If you're looking to drive through the dirt, consider the Badlands trim since it includes a suspension tuned for dirt and rocks.
Interior
Seating five people comfortably, the 2023 Bronco Sport has a sloped roofline, which affords ample headroom in both rows. Its cargo area has plenty of space, with 32.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 65.2 cubic feet of space when you fold down those seats. The Bronco Sport features Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, which has an easy-to-navigate menu and quick responses. All trims have an 8-inch touchscreen display, and the higher trims offer navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard as well.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Bronco Sport comes with a handful of driver-assistance features, some of which include forward automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, rear camera, and automatic high-beam headlights. A few available safety upgrades found on the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package include stop-and-go adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. The vehicle has two complete sets of LATCH connectors located on the rear outboard seats, as well as a tether anchor found on the rear middle seat. Thanks to all these safety features, the 2023 Bronco Sport earned a perfect overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
