3 Engine Problems You Should Get Fixed at Your Ford Dealer

3 Engine Problems You

Your Ford engine is the most important part of your car. It's also the most expensive to repair or replace if a serious problem develops. Fortunately, engine problems are usually easy to notice. Your Ford dealer can fix any of these problems for you. We listed some of the most common problems below.

3 Engine Problems You Should Get Fixed at Your Ford Dealer

Failing Alternator

Your alternator's job is to provide electrical power for your car. It does this by converting mechanical energy from the movement of the crankshaft into magnetic energy and then DC. This relatively small device supplies all of the power for your car. An alternator will wear out like any other component and can also be damaged. A worn or damaged alternator will cause major problems for your electrical system.

An alternator that can't produce enough power will cause random glitches in the electrical system. These problems will become more frequent and serious as the alternator wears out. A lack of consistent electrical power can also affect vital systems like spark plugs and headlights. A worn-out alternator can't be repaired. We will need to test the alternator and replace it if it's been damaged.

Worn Piston Rings

Each of the cylinders in your engine has a piston. Combustion requires air and fuel to mix in the intake manifold, and this mixture is then pumped into the cylinders. The piston in the cylinder then rises at high speed and compresses the air-fuel mix. When the piston reached the top of the cylinder, the spark plug ignites the mixture, and the piston drops down to expel the combustion residue.

The rings are attached to the piston, and they ensure that the piston has an airtight seal as it moves upwards. This seal is essential, as compression can't work with an airtight seal. Over time, the rings can become worn, and this can allow additional air to enter the cylinder. The reduced compression will affect your engine performance and increase fuel expenditure. We will examine the rings and replace any that are damaged.

Damaged Radiator Hoses

The radiator acts as a heat exchange for the heat generated in your engine. Engine heat is carried to the radiator inside liquid coolant. Once inside the radiator, the hot coolant is rapidly cooled by airflow through the grille. The radiator is connected to the rest of the cooling system with rubber hoses.

The hoses need to be replaced regularly. Worn hoses become less flexible and can develop cracks these cracks can develop into holes, and you could develop a coolant leak. We'll examine your hoses and replace them if they're damaged.
