Larder Delicatessen and Bakery Larder Delicatessen and Bakery pairs a warm, welcoming environment with delicious sandwiches. The emphasis here is on fresh ingredients that rotate depending on the season, so you have all the flavor without any of the guilt. Their roast beef sandwich comes packed with meat and whole leaf baby spinach, offering the perfect balance between nutrition and being full. Perfect to go alongside your meal is the matzo ball soup, adding in cuttings of dill, cabbage, and savory broth. more 2. Slyman's Restaurant If you're absolutely starving, Slyman's is the way to go. Does Your Ford Need a Transmission Repair?

Does Your Ford Need a Transmission Repair?

As your Ford's transmission is responsible for sending power to the drive wheels, it's one of the vehicle's most important components. Thankfully, there are some obvious telltale signs that indicate when there's a problem. Here are some ways to tell when you need to bring your car or truck to your local Ford dealer for a transmission repair. 4 Signs You Need a Transmission Repair at Your Ford Dealer Fluid Leaks A sufficient amount of transmission fluid is crucial because it keeps important parts lubricated, provides cooling, and performs the hydraulic action when engaging gears. Without it, the transmission will overheat and begin to fail. Transmission fluid smells sweet and has a bright red color that darkens to a reddish-brown as it ages, so it should be easy to diagnose if you see a pool of the stuff leaking from your vehicle. You can also check for leaks by using the transmission dipstick, which marks the proper fluid level. more Burning Smell A strong burning scent coming from your car is especially alarming because it could mean that your transmission is no longer being protected by the special additives in its fluid. If these additives have burned away, you should stop driving the car immediately because continued operation could lead to severe damage from a buildup of sludge within the transmission. Caught early enough, it's possible to fix the issue with a transmission flush. Gear Slipping Transmissions are meant to deliver power promptly and smoothly, so you might want to think about heading to the repair shop when you begin to notice that acceleration isn't there when you need it. For example, as you're trying to reach highway speeds, you might see your engine staying at high revs much longer than normal before it shifts up to the next gear. While this is happening, you're also likely to see the RPMs suddenly rising or dropping even while maintaining vehicle speed. These are major signs that your transmission is slipping gears. Low transmission fluid is the usual culprit, but gear slippage can also be due to damaged transmission bands or a faulty torque converter. Jerking and Strange Noises A phenomenon that's commonly associated with manual transmission cars, jerking or shaking of the vehicle when changing gears can be unsettling and almost always means there's a major issue with the transmission. It's often accompanied by loud grinding or shuddering noises. These symptoms could also be due to low transmission fluid, but they can also be caused by worn transmission parts, a clogged transmission filter, or mounts that have loosened. Transmission rebuilds and replacements can be quite costly, so you definitely won't want to let these issues persist. Get in touch with our servicing department at Ganley Ford West today and we'll make sure that your Ford is running at its best!

Ford West Brakes

3 Signs Your Ford Needs a Brake Repair

Good brakes are essential for safe driving. When you're behind the wheel, you need to be able to control your speed and stop at any time. Your brakes are subject to wear and tear, and they will need a brake repair. In Cleveland, OH, your Ford dealer can fix any braking problem for you. These are a few signs that your brakes need to be repaired. 3 Signs You Need a Brake Repair at Your Ford Dealer Your Car Veers to One Side When you use the brakes, hydraulic pressure is exerted on the calipers to squeeze your wheel rotors and stop your car. It's a scary feeling if you hit the brakes and your car veers to one side. Your car feels like its brakes aren't working, and that's partially true. The brake system on one side of your car has failed. Your car will automatically veer towards the side that has a working brake. The action to stop your car requires the calipers on both your driving wheels to act simultaneously. It also requires equal hydraulic pressure exerted on both calipers. The cause of the brake failure is either a caliper that doesn't engage or a blockage in one of the brake hoses. In either case, the brake on the affected side won't work, and your car will veer to the opposite side. Screeching Sounds When the brake calipers close on either side of the wheel rotors, the brake pads inside the calipers produce friction. The pads have a thick friction material covering that slows and stop the rotors. The friction that causes your wheels to stop also wears off part of the material each time you brake. New pads are 1/2" thick, and they need to be replaced when they wear down. When the thickness of the friction material drops to 1/4" thick, a metal spike in the material is revealed. This spike is built into the pads as a warning. When you apply the brakes, this spike will scratch against the rotor. This scratching generates a piercing screeching sound. It's also a very audible reminder that your pads are thin and need to be changed. Soft Brake Pedal When you step on the brake pedal, it should provide resistance. The resistance is generated by the pressure of the brake fluid. If you step on the brake, and there's almost no resistance, you have a brake problem. The lack of resistance means either there's a blockage in the brake system or you have a brake fluid leak. Our technicians can easily find the cause of the trouble and fix it for you. If you have any problem with your brakes, call us right away at Ken Ganley Ford West.
